Non-Rev Travels
Hello and welcome to Non-Rev Travels! I started traveling standby about two years ago when my husband took a ramp job with an airline. We enjoy seeing where the plane takes us and have learned plenty from our travels. My husband and I have visited London, Costa Rica, and many United States cities using our travel privileges. As travel lovers, we find our flight benefits invaluable. We are able to make so many special memories on our trips and fill our lives with new experiences. Non-Rev Travel has opened up the world to us and allowed us to explore in a way we never thought we could. It is now possible to jet somewhere for lunch or fill a free weekend with a new place. While it is an amazing benefit, it comes with unique challenges. The schedule of an airline employee can be tough to navigate. Our adventures provide us with the ultimate quality time together and refresh us from the stresses of our daily lives.
I started this blog because there was a steep learning curve for us, as non-rev travelers. We are hoping that this resource can help other employees begin non-rev life! My husband and I met in college while studying music, and we still spend time performing as freelance musicians on the side of our main gigs. I am in the throws of an electrical apprenticeship, involving both on-the-job training and classroom work. My husband has advanced to a supervisor position at the airport and teaches trumpet students at a local college and music academy. We both play in the Brevard Philharmonic trumpet section. Between our day jobs, the gigs, the traveling, and our favorite cat, “Whiskers”; we live a fulfilling and adventurous life.
